The survey is prepared by the Bulgarian Center for-Not-for Profit Law under the Bulgarian Charities Aid Foundation Project “An Optimistic Look at NGOs and Domestic Resources”, funded by the Trust for Civil Society in Central and Eastern Europe.

The book comprises two parts. The first part is a representative sociological survey of the practices of NGOs governance in Bulgaria, carried out by MBMD at the end of year 2005. The sociological survey offers an insight into the current situation of the NGOs sector in Bulgaria, which are still dependant mainly on foreign funding and are predominantly with limited budgets.

The second part of the book offers an analysis of the acting legal requirements on the structure, internal regulations, conflict of interests prohibition and other issues related to NGOs governance. This part will be useful to all active NGOs, because it classifies the different legal provisions.
